Our Team

We are Team 1727, otherwise known as REX from Dulaney High School in Timonium, MD. As part of our goal to expand STEM education and opportunity across Baltimore County, we pilot both the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) programs.

Founded in 2005, we started competing in FRC in 2006 and VEX in 2009. As the ONLY public-school based FRC team in Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS), we look to make robotics and engineering more accessible to all students, especially those who are underserved. This year, we have had unprecedented growth in both our VEX and FRC teams, with team membership doubling compared to last year.

In addition to both our FRC and VEX programs, we are also devoted to spreading STEM opportunities to younger students.

Our Mission

Engage.

Give students a hands-on experience in constructing robots they design themselves.

Innovate.

Allow students to apply and adapt the Engineering Design Process to real-life scenarios and develop creative solutions to problems.

Grow.

Encourage students to develop workplace skills, such as leadership, and analytical thinking.

 Our Programs

FRC

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) provides students worldwide with the opportunity to design, build, and program their own industrial-sized, 125-pound robots to compete in a unique challenge each year starting in January.

Teams compete at district events to qualify for the District Championships and then the World Championships.

VEX

The VEX Robotics Competition combines the challenges of engineering with the intensity of competition to provide students from Elementary School through College the opportunity to design, construct and program their own robots to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge.
